Privacy Policy

Hook AI (Hook AI: Go Viral, Boost Views) is an iOS app built by Quoc Phan. It analyzes the opening hook of a short video and gives you a score with plain language feedback. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.

The Video You Choose to Analyze

Hook AI works on one video at a time, and only the video you pick.

• You select a video through Apple's system video picker. The app cannot see any other photo or video in your library, only the single clip you choose.
• The app reads frames from that clip and transcribes roughly the first three seconds of speech. The transcription happens on your device. The audio stays on your device. Only the short text transcript leaves your device.
• To produce your analysis, the app sends those video frames and the short transcript to our processing service. This is the only content that is sent off your device.
• Hook AI does not use the camera and does not record new video or audio. It works from a clip you already have.

How the Analysis Is Processed

This only happens when you choose to analyze a video. Nothing is sent in the background. To generate your analysis, the app sends the video frames and the short transcript over an encrypted connection to OpenRouter, an AI routing service, which passes the request to the underlying AI model provider (currently Google's Gemini). The provider generates the hook analysis and the result is returned to your device.

• There is no account and no login. The request carries only the frames and transcript needed for the analysis. It is not tied to your name, email, or a profile of you.
• We do not operate a server that stores this content, and we do not keep the frames or transcript after your result is returned.
• The frames and transcript are processed by OpenRouter and the AI model provider solely to produce your analysis, under their own data and API processing policies. We do not use your content to train AI models.
• The analysis result is saved locally on your device so you can revisit it. We do not store it on any server of ours.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Hook AI offers an optional paid upgrade, Hook AI Pro, as an auto renewing subscription. Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. To manage your subscription and unlock entitlements, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription management service.

• Apple processes the transaction and your billing. We do not see your Apple ID, card number, or billing address.
• RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app user identifier (a random ID and device level identifiers) so it can confirm whether your subscription is active and restore it across your devices.
• This data is used to operate the subscription only. It is not used to track you across other apps and is not sold.

Diagnostics

If you have turned on sharing analytics with developers in your iOS Settings, Apple may send us anonymized crash reports and performance data for Hook AI. This comes from Apple in aggregate form and is not linked to your identity. Hook AI does not include any third party analytics, advertising, or crash reporting SDK of its own.

No Tracking and No Ads

Hook AI does not track you across other apps or websites, does not show ads, and does not build an advertising profile. Because of this, the app does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework, so you will not see an App Tracking Transparency prompt from Hook AI.

What We Do Not Collect

Hook AI does not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, precise location, or social media accounts. There is no sign up form.

Data Retention

Your analysis results live on your device and are removed when you delete the app. The video frames and transcript sent for analysis are not retained by us after the result is returned. Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as needed to run billing and subscriptions, under their own policies.

Children's Privacy

Hook AI is rated 4 plus but is intended for creators and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that involved personal data, please contact us and we will help.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU and UK under GDPR and California under the CCPA, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because Hook AI keeps your content on your device and does not maintain an account or a profile of you, most data is already in your control: you can delete results in the app and remove everything by deleting the app. For purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat, or for any other request, email us and we will respond.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
